Keynote Speaker
Data Week Leipzig is getting closer and so are the exciting keynote presentations. On Monday, June 26, the event week will kick off with the European Innovation Day. Several European initiatives and laws have been launched to better tap into the vast amounts of data and improve the availability of information and knowledge. Three high-profile presentations will provide insights and details. Jordi Escriu is part of the European Commission and works as a scientific project manager in the Digital Economy Unit at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra, Italy. As a research associate in the field of biodiversity and nature conservation, Dr. Néstor Fernández from the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig will also be part of the keynote session. Dr. Ingo Simonis is the Technology Innovation Officer at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), where he leads the development and implementation of technology and innovation strategies to achieve short-, medium-, and long-term goals while enabling sustainable growth of OGC’s impact in society and the economy. Also, on the same day, Dr. Antti Jakobson will speak about “Geospatially enabled ecosystem for Europe (GeoE3)”. GeoE3 is a project co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union that will provide the vital connection between existing and emerging National, Regional and Cross-Border digital services. Antti is a senior engineer at the National Land Surveys of Finland and has many years of experience in SDI development and data quality. On Tuesday, June 27, there will be another keynote by Dr. Ingo Simonis. He will talk about “Data spaces for a joint development of climate-adapted cities”, followed by another keynote presentation by Matthias Zeller, who is Senior Business Developer at Metroscope. Dr. Felix Sasaki will give his keynote presentation on Wednesday, June 28 on “Large language models, data and knowledge: a virtuous circle”. He joined SAP in October 2021 to work on AI knowledge graphs and semantic technologies. As part of the AI Tomorrow conference on Thursday, June 29, Christian Zinke-Wehlmann from the Institute for Applied Informatics e.V. and the KMI Competence Center will give the keynote “Shaping the future with artificial intelligence? On the role of AI in resilience and sustainability.”. The final keynote of the week will be given by Anne Mollen on Friday, June 30. She is Senior Policy & Advocacy Manager at AW AlgorithmWatch gGmbH and will close Data Week Leipzig with her talk on “Organizational mindshift for sustainable AI. For an integrated sustainability perspective across the entire ML lifecycle. “.

New Press Release
Data Week Leipzig 2023 will take place from June 26 to 30 and focus on digitization, data, AI and urban development. New cooperation partners are expanding the event week to be visible outside of Saxony. The focus is on international data spaces for climate change strategies.
